Fight Update: (01/10/2009) There’s an information today that I found from Bleacher Report about the negotiation transcript of Mayweather’s camp to save the fight event. Read the transcript here. You will definitely type “LOL” on your phones, chat room or boxing forums after you read this one.

(01/07/09): Bad news!!! The negotiation failed and there will be no Pacquiao vs. Mayweather. This is after the mediation session failed to resolve the differences of the two fighters. Tsk, the richest fight ever just won’t happen. I don’t know if it will in the future. If not Mayweather, who will be next? Write your reactions below regarding this fight.

(01/03/09): Good news guys! Bob Arum now said in a news that he is willing to meet with Golden Boy Promotions CEO Richard Schaefer next week and try if they can work out something on the Pacquiao vs. Mayweather fight. There’s a possibility that this Monday or within this week, Judge Weinstein, the same judge who assisted in mediation with Top Rank and Golden Boy Promotions in the past, will be mediating between the two camps with Pacquiao’s lawyer and Mayweather’s party. Well, we can expect some development here and if everything goes well, Pacquiao will start his training in LA Wild Card Gym next week and expect for the mega welterweight bout to happen.

(01/01/09): Bob Arum gave up the idea of Pacquiao vs. Maweather megafight and shift to negotiating with either Yuri Foreman (WBA Super Welterweight champion) or Paul Malignaggi (former IBF Junior Welterweight Champion). On the other hand, Pacquiao file a case against the Mayweathers (Jr., Sr., Uncle Roger) in connection with their accusations against him on using performance-enhancing drugs. Its a fight not on the ring but on the court worth $75,000 fine. Tsk, what a waste!

(12/27/09): Recent news from Examiner.com said that Mayweather’s camp just back-off the USADA or Olympic style drug testing. They are expecting that this will make the fight to continue. Ah, I am really getting tired of the “push-pull” negotiations and I will just update this post when they finally ink the contract.

(12/24/09): No more Mayweather vs. Pacquiao? They are opening the possibilities of Pacquiao vs. Foreman or Malignaggi vs. Pacquiao and I don’t think it will be what the fans want. Let see what happens after the holiday.

12.23.09 – Drug Test procedure requirements of Mayweather might hinder the much anticipated Pacquiao vs. Mayweather superfight. He wants the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) test procedures instead of the usual method. This requires a blood to be taken from the fighter which Pacquiao don’t like. Tsk, it will be such a waste if this thing will got in the way.

(12/14/09): I previously said that the fight is confirmed. Bob Arum suppossedly will officially announce the fight today and it seems that it will not happen yet. Maybe this is because of the issues involving the final place to hold the fight. I am in waiting mode right now. I will just replace this update when the official announcement comes.

(12/8/09). ~~Its confirmed!~~ Pacquiao vs. Mayweather is on and set to happen on March 13, 2009. Location is still undecided but Manny Pacquiao prefer to fight at Las Vegas according to a recent interview.

“Fight Mayweather!” This is the shout of the boxing fans around the world after Manny Pacquiao (50-3-2, 38 KOs) won against Miguel Cotto of Puerto Rico last November 2009. It is expected by a lot of boxing analysts and been said that there are no other qualified fighter to fight the pound for pound king, other than the number one of USA, Floyd Mayweather Jr. (45-0-0 25 KOs). It will be gigantic fight as two best fighters of the world will clash to prove themselves that they are the best of their worlds.

On a recent news Pacquiao and Mayweather already agreed to fight in a 50-50 split share on the $50 million up front and Bob Arum of Top Rank promotion is just tuning up everything before they officially announced the exact date and location of the upcoming fight. It was previously reported that the tentative fight date is March 13, 2010 and there are 3 locations that they are considering to hold the fight, Dallas Cowboys Stadium, MGM Grand Garden Arena and the New Orleans Superdome. On a separate report, Freddie Roach said in an interview, that he personally don’t like the date as he feels that the date is too soon for the boxer. He said that Pacquiao suffers some injuries on his previous fight and the political plans of Pacquiao will surely be distracting his training. “If they want the best of Pacquiao, it will be after the election 2010,” he added.

In my opinion, it will be much better if Pacman will be fighting after the election. In this case he will be more focus and will really be very prepared to face the undefeated Mayweather Jr. I know everyone is excited already to see them both on the ring but if we really want a good fight then we should see both of them on best shape and that is not before the election. However, it is up to them if they will pursue with the date. If in case the match will happen, we will be here to witness this much awaited fight of the year.

Later, if you want to watch this fight, there are a lot of options to do that. It is either you buy a subscription on HBO PPV (pay per view) and watch it at home on your TV or get a ticket and watch it live on the ring. I believe that Pacquiao will Going to Win Against Cotto!

Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao is one of the boxer in the Philippines that I think that has gain some certain “wisdom” when it comes to boxing. He is a kind of fighter that improves and changes or improve his fighting style all through out his career. He showed several impressive performance on his previous fights. From beating Barrera, Larios, Marquez, Dela Hoya and Hatton. Making him one of the greatest boxers of all time.

I believe that he can beat Miguel Cotto and he can still retain his title as the pound for pound king in the whole world. He got the speed and strength that you can’t see a lot from other boxers in the world. This is one reason why I am really thinking that his possible retirement after the fight will be such a waste. He is planning to pursue his political career in the Philippines and this is one of the hindrances to his boxing career.

The super fight, Pacquiao vs Cotto is expected to happen this coming Nov. 14 (Nov. 15 in the Philippines) and tickets on the ringside of Las Vegas, Nevada are sold out.

10.24 – Today, HBO premieres the first episode of 24/7, a reality drama show featuring Cotto and Pacquiao during their practice and their lives behind boxing.

10. 11. 2009 On HBO’s twitter, Shawn Porter – Pacman’s sparmate said that “He’s gonna shock the world again.” Referring to the Filipino boxer to bring another exciting and fascinating fight.

10.07 – It is reported that Pacquiao is getting some beating from his sparring partner on his recent training in Baguio. Roach doesn’t confirm if who on his sparring partner is giving some paws but it is possibly Porter because he is the much bigger and stronger sparring mate that he have. It seems that Pacman has lost his defense touch already. Will his time for training enough to fix his defense problem? Will Cotto exploits this weakness of the People’s Champ?

10.05 – Julius Cesar Chavez, Jr. (40-0-1 30KOs) vs. Troy Rowland (25-2- 7 KOs) included on the match as undercard fight. Now, is anyone cares to watch this match aside from the main event?

10.03 – Pacquiao’s training paused for a while due to typhoon Ondoy and Peping. Cotto keeps on practicing and will KO his opponent according to his camp.

09.24 – Pacquiao stops his training to give way to his “political activities.” News even reported that he said that he is willing to give up boxing for his political career. Pacman is rumored to run for congressman in Sarangani Province in the Philippines.

09.21 – Pacquiao flew to Baguio today to start his 8 weeks training program as preparation for his fight against Miguel Cotto.

09.17 – Pacquiao return from the promo tour and was welcomed by the insinuation of Mayweather Sr. saying in an interview that Pacman is taking steroids. The camp of Pacman is planning to act legally on this matter. Tsk, what an irresponsible remarks from someone who is known to be the trainer of a boxer who lost to Pacquiao!

Regarding his training, he will start it in Baguio by Sept. 21 and shift to Los Angeles in the Wild Card Gym by October 17.

09.09 – Until now, The People’s champ is not formally training and he left today for United States for the 5-city publicity tour for their Nov. 14 fight. He said that 8 whole weeks is enough for him to train and Pacquiao plans to train in Baguio City when he come backs from the promotional tour.

09.04 – Pacquiao was promoted by the Philippine Army to Sgt. Major. The reason behind it, the honor that he is giving to the country by winning previous boxing challenges. The question now, what will be his rank on the army when he wins this match? If he wins!

09.01 – Pacman is not training for about 3 weeks now for the preparation of his fight against Cotto. Do you know why? He is filming a new movie in Manila. What’s the title of the movie? Don’t know yet! Freddie Roach however said that all of the preparation and the system for the Pacquiao’s training are set already and he will not reveal any of the details of the training program that he’ll give for Pacquiao.

08.30 - Pacquiao asked for Gary McMillan of UK as his sparring mate in response to the “lefty sparring mate key to success” plan of Cotto. It’s his camp move to adapt to the orthodox – southpaw style of Cotto. Great, this will be the start of an explosive fight to expect this Nov.!

08.12 – Pacquiao vs. Cotto match tickets will be available to all the fans worldwide by August 17.

08.11 – Roach told media, he’s training Pacquiao not to be hit by the heavy punches of Cotto. What if he got hit?

08.10 – Arum announced today the signing of Pacquiao and Cotto contract on Tuesday, August 11. “Everything has been decided and agreed to. Cotto is defending the title and the weight limit will be 145 pounds.” – Arum’s assured.

08.03 – WBO (World Boxing Organization) announced that Miguel Cotto will be defending his welterweight crown during his fight against Pacquiao on 145 pounds maximum weight level. So the match Pacquiao vs. Cotto match is now a title bout.

07.28 – Dionisia Pacquiao, mother of Manny Pacquiao, said media that this Pacquiao vs. Cotto will be the last fight for Manny. Maybe this is because of his political plans this coming 2010. Let see what’s up next.

07.22 – The wait is over for another action-packed match for Pacman! It is simply because both camp of Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao and Miguel Cotto agreed to fight on 145 maximum weight limit. This was Bob Arum said on an interview yesterday and he also added that they are just finalizing all the papers necessary for the match to materialize. The said match is scheduled on November 14, 2009 at the MGM Grand Las Vegas, Nevada and can be watched by boxing enthusiasts and patrons from around the world through HBO’s pay-per-view.

Pacquiao (49-3-2, with 37 knockout wins) recently acquired the title of the pound for pound king after beating Ricky Hatton on the last May 2 bout while Cotto (34-1, with 27 knockout wins) successfully defended his title against Joshua Clottey last June 13. I think, this recent result of the fight of Cotto made him convinced that this Puerto Rican fighter is a worthy opponent for him. Both parties did not reveal anything regarding the percentage share that the boxers can get from the said upcoming event.

Manny Pacquiao vs Floyd Mayweather Jr. Future Match

Today, Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao, the crowned pound for pound king, said to the press that the next opponent that he wants to fight on the ring will be the undefeated Floyd “Pretty Boy” Mayweather Jr. not the first rumored opponents Shane Mosley nor Miguel Cotto. He also believe that the undefeated, fast and furious defender “Pretty Boy” will win against Marquez on the Mayweather vs Marquez match this coming July 18 of the year. If in case that this will be pursued and agreed upon by the two camps, the tentative schedule for the said Pacquiao vs Mayweather match will be on October of this year.

I think Mayweather needs to win first his come back match before he can say something about this issue. He should prove to the boxing fans world wide that he is still the same “Pretty Boy” boxer that they’ve seen on his peak years. Well if this will happen in the future, I am sure PPV and tickets earnings will surely be one of the top grosser of all boxing fights in the world.

Floyd Mayweather Jr. versus Juan Manuel Marquez

The following are the log of events prior to Mayweather vs. Marquez fight this coming September 19. It is updated regularly and the source of online viewing of the fight will be provided later whenever it is available during the fight. So for the meantime, you can read the following events and happenings during the training and preparation of the match.

Latest Update: Mayweather won the match against Marquez in unanimous decision. For results, post fight conference, and replay information regarding the Mayweather vs. Marquez match, just visit this blog HERE.

09.18.09. Mayweather misses the weight limit having 146 pounds which is 2 pounds heavier than the agreed weight limit of 144 lbs. On the other hand, Marquez only weighs 142 lbs. I think they will financially penalized Mayweather because of this (and no DQ ). How will Marquez will handle this heavy opponent, that’s the question now by different boxing spectators, fans and analysts.

09.18.09. HBO webcast the official weigh-in of the fight. You can watch it right now if you want HERE.

09.15.09. The fight will be aired on ABS-CBN in the Philippines, one hour after the fight at Sept. 20 10AM PHT (Sept. 19, 10PM ET). Actually they are promoting the said fight several weeks already.

09.10.09. Mayweather on the last phase of his training on the other hand Marquez revealed his “secret” on HBO 24/7 regarding his “vitamin” after the training.

08.29.09. The HBO 24/7 Mayweather vs. Marquez starts airing today and the signal to countdown before the fight.

08.20.09. Officials for the fight were named. Veteran referee Tony Weeks will be the third man in charge of the match. Burt Clements (Nevada), Dave Moretti (Nevada) and William Lerch (Illinois) will be the judges of the 12-round welterweight bout.

08.11.09. Media is asking if what will be of Mayweather after the fight? Will he fight with Ricky Hatton once more? Hatton seems to show interest on fighting Mayweather once more.

08.05.09. Mayweather released a messsage on his twitter account at: http://twitter.com/MAYWEATHERMANIA/ to make some noise on his upcoming fight using the latest social media network. His twit stated:

Mayweather will start his come back by an opening fight on July 18 against the mexican Juan Manuel Marquez at MGM Grand in Las Vegas where they will be fighting on 143 or 144 pounds weight category.

Where To Watch Pacquiao – Hatton Match Live?

I usually watch the replay of every Manny Pacquiao‘s fight and sometimes only heard from radio the live result which is usually broadcast by a station in our place. That is why whenever I watch his fight, I already knew who will win the match right before the replay ends. I hate that feeling that the excitement were all gone specially when my neighbors were already shouting about his victory. That’s the reason why this coming fight of Pacman, I search for means to watch the said fight live this coming May 3, 2009.

Here are the following options that I can do (and others can do too) to watch this once in a lifetime boxing event:

Pay per View. I can get a subscription from our Cable TV provider for a fee.
Movie Theaters. There is one movie house here that offers a live coverage of the game for a small fee. I like the idea but I don’t want to leave the house this day because I need to monitor something on the fight day.
Free Coverage in Capiz Gym. I think the provincial government of Capiz is offering a free showing of the said fight. It will surely be swarmed by Pacquiao vs Hatton fans and I can’t afford to insert myself to this big crowd.
Live Online Streaming. I found a site for this here: Watch Pacquiao vs Hatton Match live site and I might be watching it this way but my problem is that my current broadband connection might not able to handle the bandwidth requirement of this streaming. I’m just hoping that it can, if not then I might watch the replay again.

Pacquiao versus Hatton Match Updates, Results and News

This post contains the latest news and events about the boxing event plus tips on how to watch it online, PPV, TV live or replay or live on the ringside. 04/02/2009. Pacquiao wins via knocking out Hatton with a left hook on the 2nd round. Read the rest of the story here. Congratulations Pacman, your the man!

04/05/2009. Pacquiao was declared number one of the Ring Pound for Pound ratings (#1 Ring P4P ratings) while Hatton fall out of top ten. Pacquiao also declares his intention to run as the representative of his province, Sarangani. I hope he won’t be knocked out by the alligators and leeches that will surely swarm the guy during and after the election 2010.

04/02/2009. The official weigh-in for Pacman and Hitman is in and Pacquiao officially weighs at 138 lbs while Hatton weighs exactly 140 lbs. Tomorrow will be the tonight will be the big night fight and be there for the square! Watch the fight now!

04/27/2009. Pacquiao concluded the weight loss competition for his colleagues and friends, where the participants were required to loose 10% of their weight for a given period. Winners gain $3,000 for the prize. A shoe maker made a custom shoes for Pacquiao containing his initials. This will be the official shoe of the Filipino champ. As the usual tradition of Manny, he attended a mass a week before the much anticipated event. Hatton on the other hand said that he is really impressed with how respectful Pacman fans are and he is already ready to knock down his opponent.

04/18/2009. Main event’s undercard matches were announced. WBC super feather weight champion Humberto Soto (47-7-2) will be fighting Canada’s Benoit Gaudet (20-1, 7 KOs). Undefeated top-rated James Kirkland (25-0, 22 KOs) will go against Mike Walker (19-1-2, 12 KOs) in a middleweight bout. Other mathches include, Russia’s Matt Korobov vs. Rodrigo Aguiar and Erislandy Lara against Chris Gray.

04/08/2009. Speculations today were spread and even me is asking if this is true. Pacquiao according to a news hurt his foot in his current training. Well let see if this is true and they revealed what tactics that they will do to knock down his opponent and that is a lot of body shot. “I am so excited already!”

4/06/2009. Freddie Roach said today that Pacquiao can knock out Hatton in 9 minutes instead of the previous coach mandate to knock out him in 9 rounds which is same as the De La Hoya-Pacquiao match. Can He do it? What will be Hatton’s reaction about this? Let see guys!

03/19/2009. Pacquiao changed his media partner in the Philippines. This mean that Filipino fans can watch the Hatton vs Pacquiao match on ABS-CBN instead of GMA 7.

03/16/2009. Today, Pacquiao was tagged by Sports Illustrated as the number one or best pound for pound boxer/fighter of the current times.

03/05/2009. Pacquiao is in US now for his 2 months long training. According to him this Pacquiao and Hatton match might be his last fight and he will retire after this. This might be connected to his plans for 2010 Philippine Elections.

02/26/2009. Pacquiao will fly this Friday to Hatton’s country for the promotion of their fight before starting his training in US. In connection to this, he relinquished his WBC lightweight title signalling his intention of not going back to the said division. Pacquiao’s coach, Roach, spoke of knocking down Hatton on lesser number of rounds compared to what Mayweather have done to him. “Pacquiao is better than Mayweather”, Freddie Roach stated on his TV interview.

01/23/2009. Finally, There will be Pacquiao vs Hatton this May 2, 2009 after Pacquiao agreed to fight Hatton with the offer of 52-48 share to pay per view and a guaranteed take home earning of $12M. But there are stories that roaming that these agreement is mere speculations and still the match is under negotiations. Let just see what will be the official announcement of this fight. I will update you guys!

01/19/2009. Pacquiao today refused the other offer of Hatton’s camp of 50-50 or 55-45 aside from the 60-40 that he asked. Bob Arum told them that 60-40 sharing in profit is impossible to settle so Pacquiao’s camp is now ready for searching for new opponent. Sad! I thought I could see Hatton being beaten by Pacquiao or vis versa.

01/13/2009. Today, I just heard on the news that Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao’s group are discussing about the next fight of the people’s champ. After the successful fight of Pacquiao against De La Hoya, it seems that they are not stopping at all. They are still “picking for a fight” to different fighters. One of the fighter that they considered to negotiate to fight was Ricky “Hitman” Hatton, a welterweight champion from England. Actually this was the reason why Pacquiao named his new baby as “Queen Elizabeth” because he was expecting that his next fight will be with Hatton. But according to Pacman’s group they were not yet done with the deal because they were not able to agree with the “money deal.” The Pacquiao camp is asking for a 60-40 deal but Hatton’s group did not agree from this offer so the fight is still hanging and there’s no fix announcement yet. According to them, they will announced later this month if they will really fighting in the ring.

Another speculation that spreading in Las Vegas today was Pacquiao also considering to fight Floyd Mayweather Jr., an undefeated American boxer who beats Ricky Hatton on their last match. Mayweather already retired and the last time that I saw this guy on TV was on Wrestling Mania. I don’t know if he will really fight again in the ring.

Congratulation Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao!

This morning when I’ve heard the interview of Manny Pacquiao regarding his next fight, I was very shocked when he confirmed that he might fight “The Golden Boy” Oscar De La Hoya. He said that he can increase his weight up to 140 pounds so he can boxed with De La Hoya. I see De La Hoya’s built and he is too big for Pacman and I don’t know if Manny can reach the same built.

A lot of opinions are buzzing around our place saying that this fight might be the last fight for Pacquiao for he will be surely knocked down by “Golden Boy” and others are saying that this fight will be the graceful exit of De La Hoya on the boxing world. Pacquiao is really trying to reach his maximum limit and the decisions to this fight is still on negotiations.

Aside from that, Manny Pacquiao officially announced his political plans for the election 2010. Oh man, I don’t know what to say. Honestly, I don’t like the idea of Pacquiao to enter politics. I think this politics will surely “destroy” him and I hope Pacquiao will not allow himself to be eaten alive by dirty politicians that will surely surround and “solicit” from him.

Update (August 14, 2008). Today, Pacquiao decided not to continue with De La Hoya dream fight which was last planned to be held this December. It is because Pacquiao and De La Hoya did not agree with the 30-70 income distribution. I thought the dream fight will be materialized but I was wrong!

As of today (August 28). Pacquaio vs. Dela Hoya fight deal is done. It seems that Pacquiao agreed with the offer of the Golden promotion. Let just see what will happen with this fight. I am excited already!
